INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOKENS OF APPREICATION HAND OUTS:
- Make or purchase Tokens of Appreciation.
- Order reward items for students. These could be donated from local businesses or inexpensive prizes that are purchased. Students turn in one token for one prize.
- Create buzz about your new token system by advertising to teachers/students with announcements, flyers, and videos.
- Give Staffulty tokens (we suggest 3 tokens per quarter) with instructions to give tokens to students in the moment when they go above and beyond. This can be during class time or in between classes.
- Once a week, students are called on the intercom to cash in their token for a reward. Any student who received a token that week will then go to the office to turn in their token for a prize of their choice.
- As tokens are collected, you can re-use and pass them out again for the next grading period.
- A good best practice is to take photos and post them with the names of students who receive this recognition. Showing other students that they have an opportunity to win prizes by showing strong character will help promote the tokens and reinforce the behaviors you want to see within your school.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:
- Rewards don’t need to be costly. Offer privileges such as early dismissal or cutting the lunch line!
