Dollars for Dares

Dollars for Dares

Are you trying to spice up your school fundraiser? Create a system of tiered dares that will be completed any time a goal is met – like the principal will get a pie in the face once $200 has been raised by the school community.

School Type: Middle School, High school

Activity Goal: School Fundraiser

Prep Time: 2 weeks

People Required: Staffulty or students

Space Required: Auditorium or large space with screen

Timing: Renaissance Rally

Materials: Whatever is needed to complete the dare!

Cost: Free

Submitted by: Green River High School, WY

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOLLARS FOR DARES:

  1. Pick a group or cause your Renaissance crew would like to raise money and sponsor, or have the funds go to your school.
  2. Find both student and Staffulty volunteers who are willing to be “dared” – they could specify the dare, or share ideas like:
    • Get slimed
    • Pie in the face
    • Do a choreographed dance
    • Sing a karaoke song
    • Compete in a relay race
    • Go in a dunk tank
  3. Announce and promote the fundraiser to the school community, and explain the tiers.
  4. Track the amount of money raised, and notify the volunteers each time their dare is met!
  5. Have volunteers publicly complete their end of the bargain, and have fun watching!

ADDITIONAL IDEAS & OPPORTUNITIES:

  • This could be tailored to help achieve goals like raising attendance or other academic achievement – example: once the junior class has raised their combined GPA to 3.0, the principal will get a pie in the face.
