Bureau Valley High School in Illiniois had a great fundraiser for Renaissance in their school – a Machine Shed Masters Tournament!
The Machine Shed Masters is a traveling putt-putt golf tournament open to foursomes or individuals, played in local machine sheds. At each hole, teams had the opportunity to golf, purchase 50/50 tickets, enjoy refreshments, and play games in addition to golf. The goal was to raise funds for Bureau Valley High School Renaissance. Plans for the funds include:
• Student and Staff of the Month Awards & Breakfast
• Semester Field Trips
• Various Leadership Conferences
• Jostens Renaissance National Conference
• Renaissance Cards, Birthday Cake, Food Drive, and much more!
From BVHS Renaissance Coordinator, Tori Boyle:
“We had 14 teams participate and everyone had a great time! Everyone said they would be interested in participating again next year and the word has spread about the event and what it all entailed and there are even more people that that to attend next year! The holes were all unique and the machine shed owners put some creativity into them. We had a hole where you had to loop-de-loop through a tire, one with a moving treadmill, and three of them had water!
After golfing everyone returned to enter their scores for prizes and have dinner and bid on silent auction items. Dinner was Italian Beef, baked beans, pasta salad, potato salad, dessert, and lemonade. The team “Mother Cluckers” won for best team name and best dressed. We also gave prizes for hole-in-one entries, best team score, best individual score, worst team score, worse individual score, and most creative holes.
All in all everyone had a great time and even the team with the worst team score is looking forward to coming back next year! We made just under $6,000 for the entire event.”
