Tips for Bringing Students to JRGC!

Renaissance Champion and Florida native Mendi Camacho has been attending the Jostens Renaissance Global Conference with her students for over 20 years – here are her top seven tips for any teacher bringing students for the first time to JRGC this July!

#1: Provide a Packing List

Don’t skip the details – you want to make sure your group is all on the same page when it comes to attire! Here is an example from Kennebecasis Valley High School.

#2: Have a Bonding Night before Traveling

This will get your group’s camaraderie developed before you even get to the conference! Consider decorating t-shirts or hats that you all can wear to the first general session.

#3: Have a dinner plan for your first night in the hotel

Be sure to plan this before you begin your travels – and there are so many options in the hotel or near it! Check out Pointe Orlando or Icon Park and make reservations if you have a large crew.

#4: Stop at the JRGC registration desk as soon as possible

Once you pick up nametags and conference schedules, meet as a group and let your students choose which breakout sessions they want to attend. Challenge them to attend each one with a different partner.

#5: Bring paint

Go ALL IN! Show off your school spirit in face paint and body paint!

#6: Have a post-conference team meeting

Set aside time after the last general session so your students can collectively share what they are excited about, any takeaways and insights, and their top ideas for the school year.

#7: Pick one or two things from JRGC you want to do this school year

You don’t need to implement every awesome idea you heard at JRGC this school year. It takes time – and that’s ok! Choose one or two things that you can achieve within this upcoming school year – they may seem small, but they will make an impact!
