Activity Goal: Recognize excellent yearbook content and design

Materials: Printed spread pages, sticky notes

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. As your deadline approaches, print and hang completed spreads in the room to show the overall flow of the book.​
  2. Use sticky notes to write specific compliments about work done well.

 

Consider using this idea in the following ways to Reinforce the Results you are aiming for:

Meeting Deadlines 
Coverage

  • Hang spreads in page order, allowing the staff to identify any gaps and formulate a plan to fill those gaps.

  • Recognize spreads that include a wide variety of students. For a football spread, for instance, recognize a spread that includes athletes, cheerleaders, marching band and fans.​
Selling Yearbooks
Quality Matters

  • Post spreads and awards outside of class and on social media. People are more likely to want to purchase a product when they can anticipate that it will be good.

  • After displaying the spreads, ask all staffers to add “glow and grow” comments before revisions are made​​

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:
